I'm afraid he could.
He's nowhere near Championship standard at the moment and needs to go out on loan to a League 1 or 2 club to toughen up and gain some experience playing against men.

We did after the August transfer window but presumably LR intends to re-shape the squad this month so I'm not sure what he'll do about home grown players and the number of substitutes he will have on the bench.
One thing for certain though is that McGuckin won't develop just by sitting on the bench and making up numbers.

McGuckin wasn't even the homegrown player registered in our 25 man squad. That was an unnamed youth player from the u18s. This was to enable us to have 9 subs. Without a homegrown player in the squad we'd only be allowed 8 subs. Ironically we've hardly ever had enough fit players to put 9 on the bench anyway.

One way round it would be to recall Josh Kayode, He's not the answer in the Championship of course, but at least he could be used in the squad if injuries were bad enough, he'd be better than an empty place or a young kid with no experience at all on the bench.

Given he's already out I injured it would make sense to do that.
