Love to watch Porridge & an interesting thread too.

But it seems the BBC engaged in some super 70s-style technical trickery, because the stadium they used is QPR's.
"The stadium in the Porridge episode was Loftus Road, as it is in virtually any BBC-made programme that features a football stadium, as the BBC Television Centre only being around the corner."

"Part of the scene certainly was shot at Elland Road, but not inside the ground. The large Leeds United sign in the background was actually on the outside of the West Stand, looking down onto what was then the club's old training pitch. That way, the BBC could get a shot of a patch of grass being dug up, with the sign in the background, without touching the sacred turf itself."

The sign on the old West Stand ER now hangs on The Hope Inn pub wall which is the home of the famed Leeds Utd Supporters Club members Authors Gary Edwards & Heidi Haigh, my Dad tells me.
Heidi Haigh is a well-known female fanatical Leeds United supporter of over 45 years who is still as passionate a supporter now as she was in the seventies, as is her family. Pic of Heidi under said old original West stand sign in the 70's.

If anyone visiting Leeds wants a traditional pub then this gem hidden away has a vast collection of Leeds Utd memrobillia in it, plus murals by the famed "Burlington Banksey" Leeds Utd street artist.

Hey lads, I could have been a Leeds fan when I got into footy as a kid, back in the late 70s. And coming from West Yorkshire (near Wakey and Cass) as I do, it would have been very easy to. 😊
