Next two weeks will show us what ambition this club has.

After yesterday's performance against a very average side where we did not have one shot on goal, swift action needs to correct this downward slide. There is no pace in midfield and the two up front are left up there on their own with no connection. We have reduced the squad by two and brought back a player who was not available for selection. The manager has clearly stated we need strengthening at the start of this window and we are halfway through it but we have an even WEAKER squad now. This club has no plan at all. What about the talk of an incoming Director of Football? All gone quiet,is that because nobody wants the job with the restrictions adopted at this club? It's the same crew we've had for years and it's time new blood was brought in with bright positive ideas and create a structure with a plan going forward. Not the same old "we can't do it" negativity.

we need to avoid signings based on hurried desperation - let's face it, we're not high up on the list of quality players' priority destinations

The ambition has always been there it’s just the reality doesn’t match the resources.
We can’t compete we’re up against an uneven playing field.
We need to drop in league 1 and build an academy developing young players to sell for a profit.
The problem is if we don’t come back up next season the fans will blame the manager,TS, Paul Douglas anyone because it will be deemed as failure.
I agree about football knowledge is needed in the club and a strategic plan is needed with a long term view for ..
    The academy
    Style of play.
    Length of contracts for players.
    Age of squad.
To do this will require an understanding and buy in from everyone and football knowledge within the club.
Apart from a new stadium we have nothing but a badly thought out strategy on and off the field.
The fans have to play their part to but that won’t happen as we seem to have some of the most fickle, unrealistic fans in the league.
If we’re not challenging for promotion next season the fans will be baying for blood.
Take Paul Warne as an example when he was here no plan B tactically clueless.
Now posts on social media and on here PW team would have been better than this its a blame culture and someone has to be at fault.
We don’t do long term on and off the field.

MT, it's not about 'multi year deals', it's about being proactive by extending a players contract by just a further year when they are on their last two year and not letting the clock run down waiting to see what league we will be in. But, only if they look like they could offer a good service to our club.

Just think on, what the likes of Smith, Barlaser, Chio, Harding, would have given our club this season had they been given extended contracts and those in charge did not just let them just 'run out'

That what’s I meant by length of contracts.
We could all think of 3-5 players that have left for peanuts or nothing. We should have had £10 million plus for these players in bank combined.
Until we change our strategy/focus nothing will change.

But if they are outperforming their contract, vastly in some instances, and have heard of murmurs about other clubs being interested (for more money), they are highly likely to not be that interested in extending their stay. Play another season, the club will then either be forced to sell so they don't lose out completely or you can run down your deal and secure even more money when signing somewhere else for three.

The incentive to sign isn't there. The fact Viktor did is astonishing and a massive outlier. That shows his respect for the club. If I were him would I of? Probably not, for the reasons stated above.

Barlaser was better than us and knew it.
    Chieo likewise.
Wes thinks he is, although pretty meh, can still get more elsewhere.
Smith ran it down and then had full flexibility, he wanted to see where we were come the end of the season if I remember correctly.

We all want to extend our best players at the best time for the best period, but it doesn't happen. That being said, they definitely should try extending the deals of some. Ollie seemed keen, we should be all over that. I agree.
