Is Kimmich on his way to the Toon

Bayern Munich have provided an update on Joshua Kimmich's absence from training camp amid transfer links with Newcastle United.

The Bundesliga giants travelled to Portugal for a training camp during their brief break from action on the pitch. Bayern claimed a 3-0 win over Hoffenheim last Friday, and do not play again until this Sunday against Werder Bremen.

Bayern confirmed that Kimmich's absence from the squad was due to the birth of his child. The club state that Kimmich is expected to return to the first-team fold in time to feature against Werder Bremen on Sunday, and has been training with the reserves in the meantime.

Kimmich is not the only midfielder to be linked with a move to Newcastle during the January transfer window. Atalanta star Ederson has also been tipped to be a potential target for Eddie Howe's team, although it remains to be seen if any new additions will be made to the squad.

Newcastle stand in tenth place in the Premier League table and 11 points adrift of the top four places. After the 3-2 defeat to Manchester City last Saturday, the Magpies are not back in action until January 27 against Fulham in the FA Cup, before returning to top-flight duty three days later away at Aston Villa.

    I cant see him coming.
It is manutd type of signing.
With FFP I see us getting players with a resale value. Maybe financial success is even more important for management than success on the pitch.

But if we can get him cheap, then… then he’d probably have some gambling issues
