    Spurs v City

Spurs defended admirably and looked dangerous on the break then in the 90th min a goal where the goalkeeper was impeded but less so than Trafford, they couldn't disallow it as a precedent had been set.

If that is not a foul, then they are changing the role of the keeper… it will be impossible for a keeper to go for an high ball in the area as long as anyone can get in his way to stop him. If this the new way we need defenders to protect the keeper in the box or he needs to stay on the line.

No problem with that goal, I didn't see a foul on the game keeper, although he was getting plenty of grief before the corners were taken. If that game is anything to go by then James is going to have a hard time of it next Wednesday.

Is the pendulum swinging too far? Goalkeepers have been a protected species for a long time. Breathing on them has been a foul even though it is a contact sport.

Now we have the situation with Trafford and last night.

At what point does blocking the keeper become obstruction? If the player has no intention of playing the ball, is blocking obstruction?

Blacklaw would have cleared everybody out of his way. Keepers need to toughen up and be physically strong enough to clear defenders out to get to the ball if players are going to be allowed to be more physical with keepers.
