Fickle? I don’t think so. ‘Fickle fans’ would mean that we’re always changing our minds depending on whether fortune smiles.
    I don’t think that’s the case.
Speaking for myself…I’ve yet to be convinced and my ‘Jury’ is still out on ‘Warney’.
Of course I’m delighted we’re second and that we added another three away points yesterday…but I’m yet to be convinced by a) some of his selections b) some of his signings c) some of our performances and d) his ability to perform in the Championship should we get there.

So…nothing ‘fickle’ about it. Always had my doubts…still have and I’m not alone there. Hope they prove to be unfounded.

Paul Warnes Barmy Army the chants every week.

Personally think most fans accept the position we are in, EFL restrictions, League 1 football, footballers and officials.

There are some, which online can be a very vocal element, who think because we are Derby we should be playing better football, spending money, and walking the league.

But most accept hes been brought in to achieve one thing, getting us out this league, which he will probably do this season or next.

It might not be pretty at times, just like the man himself.

You just mimed that didn't you? Warne is a down to Earth bloke with his own sense of humour that isn't everybody's cup of tea. He nearly got us into the Playoffs last season. Looks like we'll make the end of season lottery this time and maybe even hit one of the 2 auto promotion places.

The standard of football isn't always entertaining. Since my first game back in 1961, we've tended to play an entertaining game, even in seasons where the results haven't been what we would like. I know he's been restricted, budgetarily, in who he can sign and the sometimes mind numbing football is a direct result of that. Beggars can't be choosers etc. Where I would criticise him is his apparent unwillingness to give some of our better U21s and U18s game time. Players like Fapetu, Robinson, Weston, Wheeldon, Bardsley and others are ready. Not all at once, hell no, but fitting them in and improving them IS part of what he should be doing.

So, not fickle, just understanding of the limitations he's working under and the limitations in his own thinking. I agree with you, he will get us up, sooner or later but he should also be working towards having our decent, young players more ready for the Championship on promotion rather than picking them sparingly for the matchday squad and then leaving them on the bench.

How are you doing, Paul? How long will NML be out?

rA's right he ain't fickle, he is just a gloomster. Why back in August he opined that the signings were not of the same quality as the previous summer (he hadn't seen them play mind) and Warne had wasted time signing defenders when they weren't a priority given Derby had one of the best defensive records last season. The fact that we had 1 left back had lost 3 CB's and no recognised RB seemed to be lost on him.

Anyway given Derby should be able to afford £500K on fees (even though the club has a tight business plan and only came out of admin under 2 years ago) its been a poor showing by Warne. Who is clearly to blame for not offering the demanded transfer fee, loan fee and/or wages to strikers he has tried to sign.

Down in mid table after 7 games, it was Clowes (the "rookie" owner) should be considering Warnes future, rather ignoring the fact it would cost the club the odd £million to do so.

If at the end of the season we don't get promoted, Clowes should again consider Warne's future, because in rA's words as a supposed specialist in promotion from League 1, not managing it after just under 2 seasons at the club would be a failure.

Ah well who said football fans had to be grounded in reality? Its a fantasy world in which they don't pay the millions required just to keep a club running and their knowledge and understanding of football outweighs that of the manager, his coaching staff and of course the guy who has pumped millions in to start with.
