Sandbanks has always been there and Bournemouth has always been a club with a small supporter base
Fulham, Brentford, QPR, Bristol Rovers, Oxford, Reading etc all have relatively small supporter numbers and significantly wealthy (mostly foreign) backers. Common denominator, strong land values. Safer buying into a club if you know its value will naturally rise well ahead of the going rate, and the chances of higher value local investment, sponsors doesn't hurt.

With the exception of Warnock, ALL of Stewart's managerial appointments have been defective if not disastrous. And this why we have been stuck in this rut for a decade. It's a terrible record that even he must admit to. Rotherham in the past had the vision to appoint winners like Emlyn and Porterfield and to a degree Ronnie Moore. Stewart should take some lessons from this

Stuck in a rut under TS of moving from League Two to Championship..?

Would still love to know who we should have hired instead of who we have. There are no guarantees of success with managerial hires.

Ask Luton Plymouth Preston. They managed it. Their trajectory is upward. Not yo-yo

1968-2014 six seasons in the second teir. 2014-2024 seven seasons in the second teir. Hardly a club in decline.

Our highest position in those eras was under Emlyn. Four decades ago! That's not progress.

Right but if it’s reasonable to expect a football club to progress, and the metric for that is increasing your highest league position regularly, there’s just not enough space in the league is there? Are Portsmouth saying they didn’t make progress in the 2000s when they were in the Premier League and won the FA Cup, because now they’re in League One and because they didn’t win the top tier title twice like they did in the 40s? I know you’re saying that some clubs with an attendance not that different to ours have finished higher in the league pyramid than we have, but there’s an awful lot more that haven’t and a lot of bigger clubs that have been lower than us consistently. And, we’ve not had to worry about going bust in the past 15 years.

    But for how long upward?

They could peak soon then plummet like a stone

Lots of clubs, many bigger than ours haven't really "progressed " in the last 40 years.
I would argue that financial stability and an amazing stadium is progressing, plus we've had loads of seasons in the 2nd tier recently, compare that to most of the 80's and 90's.
