I heard that John Nelms turned down Dundee supporters buying back Dens Park from John Bennett because Nelms wanted the Dundee supporters to hand over all their money to Dundee Football Club instead of contributing to the cost of buying back Dens Park.
In my opinion that was a bad move by Nelms as shortly after his comment new rules were introduced in May 2015 resulting in Dundee Football Club Limited having to state the annual rent they were paying to Sandeman Properties Limited for Dens Park plus the total rent due for he following financial year, next five years and full amount due until the end of their lease in their annual accounts.

The members of the Open Letter Group joining the Dee4life board of directors was a big disappointment as they were all talk and no action.
Some of them did not want to upset John Nelms at all costs and the Vice Chairman did not like dissension from the ranks.
He wanted all the Dee4life directors to be in agreement with everything and he did not like a Dee4life Director not agreeing with the views of a fellow Dee4life director.
The Dee4life board of directors (apart from me) thought that if a nominated director had regular meetings with Greg Fenton Chief Executive of Dundee Football Club that would get them regular meetings with John Nelms.
These meetings with Greg Fenton have got them nowhere as the Dee4life directors are since Saturday 11th November 2023 no longer welcome in the Club’s offices in the Gardyne Campus. Any communication with John Nelms now has to be sent via the SLO such as the list of questions which were listed in the February newsletter emailed to the Dee4life members and they are available to read in the News section of the Dee4life website.
I will be astounded if John Nelms gives an answer to any of the questions let alone all of them.
In my opinion the questions should have been emailed directly to Tim Keyes with John Nelms not receiving them due to his demand that all questions now have to be sent via the SLO.
Sir Robert Kelly Chairman of Glasgow Celtic once stated that without football fans football is finished.
John Nelms should pay attention to Sir Robert Kelly’s comment as his current ‘divide and rule’ policy runs the risk of emptying the stands at Dens Park due to his continued lack of communication with all the Dundee supporters groups.
