But people engage with him (assume him)... if you look around the threads there's some pretty poor stuff from all manner of people, and there seems to be plenty who are more than comfortable to fire shots at him (and others) with very little provocation. It's not hard to ignore anyone, even if the ignore function is sketchy.

Agree fully. Moderating seems rather relaxed on the whole.
