Football was great under Atkinson, but was it down to him or the team ?
I think with a better manager this team would have had the trophy's it deserved .
When Ron come back , without the better players he couldn't do it Albion made him not the other way round.

I never really rated Ron Atkinson. He was very fortunate coming to Albion. Ronnie Allen had already laid the foundation of that team.

Great era for the club. John Giles played a big part in that foundation. Strong Irish contingent back then.

What a player, players before him just never had that athleticism he didn’t run he glided round the pitch, so privileged to have seen him play.

Loved watching Cunningham. I remember him playing against Middlesboro at The Hawthorns and he picked the ball up in the middle of our half and ran with it and he caused two defenders to fall over and a third one just managed to get a toe to the ball to stop him going one on one with the keeper. Wonderful footballer.

What a player he was , so much natural ability it was frightening .

He must have been one of the first or the first English player to sign for Real Madrid .

Tragic his life was cut so short .

First British player to sign for Real Madrid. They waited another twenty years to sign their second one in Steve McManaman. Laurie was mercurial. Pity we only had him for such a relatively short time but at least we did.
