    O/T 20 days in Mariupal

A very difficult watch but this unflinching documentary is a reminder of the stark realities of war-especially the affects upon an innocent civilian population. The scenes of parents grieving over their dead children are particularly harrowing.

An almost immediate response is anger towards Putin for starting this and the hope that the m other f ucker dies a particularly nasty death very soon and a kind of f uck the consequences, just give Ukraine all the military hardware it needs to strike back at Russia. But, of course, to kill innocent Russian civilians is to be no better than them and an escalation that drags even more into the war surely cannot be the right thing to do.

The director shows us the truth of the adage of war making good people better and bad people worse but what this documentary should also do is remind us all of the very real consequences of the actions of any war-mongers. A needed reminder perhaps following the inevitable kind of fatigue that sets in after so many months of seeing news reports on the war.

It also isn't just about Ukraine, it is Gaza, Africa and countless other places where innocents suffer. This, of course, is nothing new but sadly also proves that for all the advances in technology through the centuries, humankind has really progressed so little. That so many narcissistic- and sometimes, frankly, evil- men continue to be enabled into positions of power is surely quite a damning inditement of our societies and species.

Watched this morning Omeg and incredibly sad. Perhaps this should be shown in the Commons with every MP present as opposed to another Middle Eastern war that we should keep out of.

Love the fact the Ukrainians are fighting to the last. Even though the Afghans were trained and armed - they all ran when the Taliban came! How many Palestinians have denounced Hamas or tried to over throw them?

Ukrainians will fight to the last. If there was a God then Putin would be kidnapped and brought to the families whose relatives were thrown into that mass grave.

Good watch this programme and so so sad on our doorstep. To think Trump and Johnson are holding up that Ukrainian aid package FFS!

Quite right about Trump and I also think that any far right Tories or Reform Party members who support Trump are quite delusional if they think a new Trump presidency will benefit Britain. He is an Isolationist whose policies will all be about his perception of protecting American interests-which will almost certainly not involve any US/UK trade deal which might prove favourable to ourselves any more than it will allow continuing levels of US support for NATO or Ukraine.

As a policy, Isolationism may look attractive but in today's globally entwined world it is simply not pragmatic and poses both economic and security threats. I'm certainly not advocating a return to the levels of US meddling in other countries that we have seen in the past (much of which only helped create some of today's issues) but given the current authoritarian nature of many countries and the increasing threat they pose to Western democracy it would be very dangerous if the US were to disengage too far. Ultimately it would be as dangerous to do so for America itself as it would be for her allies. Whether "Honest Don" can be persuaded on this point is doubtful.
