But they weren't youth players. Mcguckin should still be here now instead of being out on loan done that before nothing to play for he showed enough in the pre-season friendly's to deserve a chance. Got to make them feel part of the set-up.

Yes they were. They hadn't played first team football and were playing for our youth team.

The club has posted this today, Youth players to come through to the first team since 2000. There aren't many. Half are from Ronnies first spell as manager.

When you consider how much it might cost to run the academy system it's a poor return on the investment

No not a lot,but I don’t what would be a good ratio it’s hard to say….on that just over 1 every two years ..

Also I think there will be players below that list I assume it’s just the highest appearances.plus there will be players that have moved on with out making an appearance..mark oxley for one example sold for 100k…

    Shut it down.

The bulk of the quality is from years ago, very little recently.

Academies for some clubs are little more than vanity elements. We're located in spitting difference of two clubs with bigger appeal, and a 90 minute drive of some of the biggest clubs in the world. We don't do it well, we don't generally manage the exits well (Sedgy went for okay money then, Hoskins' fee was okay) but it doesn't appear to generate a lot of income, nor does it drip feed the first team. Pack it up, invest that money in scouting like some others have done, and admit that academies aren't the right fit for every club.

I must admit, I forgot how little Artell actually played for us. Looked a real prospect at one stage - maybe a different story if it was more recent, now the Zone is gone.

McGuckin he's 21 in December looks a pointless loan in Ireland. Needs to progress with us surely in front of Eaves & Wyke.

Lets put it another way, if the club came out and said that Ayres was going to be on the bench for the next 8 games and they hope to give him some game time during that period would you be happy or unhappy?

We could have Donald Trump and Joe Biden on the bench for all I care over the rest of this season. At least the exertion might kill the pair of them off
