Leicester City Charged for breaching Rules

Leicester have been referred to an independent commission for breaching profit and sustainability rules (PSR) and failing to submit audited finances.

If found guilty the Championship high-flyers could face a points deduction.

The Foxes club are also subject to a separate financial probe by the English Football League (EFL).

And what timescale for the commission to undertake whatever "investigation" it deems fit, and then cogitate over what judgement to arrive at publish? Anyone care to guess, will it be before or after seasons end, and before or after the conclusion of the charges against Schitty is arrived at?

Seems to me that if you're at the foot of the table (whichever table), the authorities are "prompt" in their actions, to say the least, whereas if you're a little bit higher (well, a LOT higher in fact) actions take on a somewhat glacial pace?

At the very least it adds another worry and distraction to their season. Anything which puts more pressure on them the better.

From the little I have gleaned Leicester will face points deduction next season if they go up as the charges are made by Premier League. If they stay down, they may be charged by the EFL. Thats my understanding.

    Correct Cherry.

The Premier League voted at its AGM last summer to introduce new rules to fast-track financial breaches (as happened with Everton and Forest ) but those new rules were introduced "after Leicester had been relegated".
So don't apply to them !

Furthermore, the timescales needed to arrange an Independent Disciplinary commission, for the case to be heard and then a judgement delivered - "all with the possibility that the club could appeal against any sanction" - mean the case is expected to drag on beyond the summer. 😩

These things never work in our favour, so best to pretend it doesn't even exist.

Everton , Forest and now Leicester.

We were poor last season BUT we did not cheat.

Leicester should be deducted points this season , if its next season and they get promoted this season then they will have benefitted from cheating , and if this is the case then why can't Everton and Forest have their points deduction delayed?

Games gone in my opinion , absolute shambles.

The FA don't have jurisdiction over teams in the EFL, their issues with Leicester relates to when they were in the Premiership. As such, the FA can come to whatever conclusion they like, but they can't apply any immediate sanction to a team not CURRENTLY in the PL. If Leicester get promoted AND the FA decide to apply a points deduction, then it will apply to season 24/25.

Not sure what would happen if they don't get promoted, how long the penalty would persist into the future waiting for when (if?) they do.
