Could anyone explain just why he was playing last night ? With the wealth of talent available he's never going to be first choice , he's a bench player at best, and we know what he can do, he's been around a while now. On the other hand Mainoo could well be the replacement for the hapless Phillips, whose time seems at last to be up, and last night in a friendly was surely the time to find out. But no, Gareth plays Gallagher, and we learn nowt we didn't already know and Mainoo gets a run out at the end which leaves us none the wiser.
it's a shame that possibly the only person in world football who doesn't appreciate what an incredibly talented group of footballers we are currently blessed with is Gareth Southgate and once again he fails lamentably to get anything even close to approaching the best out of Phil Foden. Just what is he afraid of, why is he so timid, if we win anything with Southgate, it will be despite him, not because of him.
