My point was like you I didn't call anyone any names and imo didn't say anything untrue imo only questioning the crowd figures put out at Tannadice. But after only one single post I was subject to a fair bit of abuse; fair enough we can dish it out over here too, but then some small minded, vindictive moderator over on your side decided to ban me for a month which stopped me even posting on this site. Do you think that is fair?

I wouldn't worry about it, the Doon derby and last season still haunts them.

To be fair to Roma he posts fairly infrequently and hasn't said anything untoward......but don't expect the same courtesy on dab mad.

    2. What happens in a drought? When there's no rain and lots of sun/heat? Soil becomes hard. It'll happen in your garden of 13 years. It happens in football pitches.

    3. The tractor still weighs 1.5 tonne. Couple that with attachments on the back, you're looking at 2 tonne going up and down the pitch spraying, brushing, rolling etc. Also, think of all the heavy machinery used when the pitch gets re-done in the summer.

    4. No, it sown into the existing soil. The sand is purely a replenishment for the organic matter that's stripped off the pitch beforehand. It also protects the seed. FWIW, seed grows in sand. What do you think new football pitches are made of? It's isn't soil.
How long does it take for grass to grow from seed.
In my opinion a lot longer than two months which is the length of the close season nowadays
The Dens Park pitch was relaid with new turf but in my opinion this was just papering over the cracks which showed up during the first home game of the 2023/24 season against Motherwell.
The pitch was flooding at the Bob Shankly end with the ground staff out during the game trying to push the water which was forming a large puddle off the pitch.

I suggest that you offer your green keeping knowledge to John Nelms.
There is a simple way to stop compaction of the earth.
Introduce worms who aerate the soil but green keepers do not like worms because they leave unsightly worm casts on the grass.

Is there an easier way out of naming one current United player that would get a game for Dundee than just refusing to comment on it?

    Come on - one name.

Or is the truth a bit too galling for you?

DFC have brought in specialist contractors and people from another club, with extensive knowledge of managing sports surfaces, who are doing all they can to solve the long term problems around the Dens Park drainage problems. However we are led to believe that a couple of DABs who, at best, work for the Dundee Parks Department know of a miracle cure that will see the pitch in good condition in no time at all just by sowing pre germinated grass seed into neat sand and spraying liquid fertilizer on it day after day.

Once again I'd say you couldn't make it up but, of course, you just did.
