Not a great game but given the tougher matches to come the subs and pace understandable once we had the 2-0 cushion. Good game management as we need to avoid injury risks and give key players rests where we can. At the end of the day it's a good win for us with points on the board plus other games have gone our way as well. AJ going for Adam Reach for motm and would probably go with that to be fair.

As I said earlier, a Rolls Royce performance by him and Furlong.

    Both classy players.

It must have been Al's casting vote which swayed the decision!

Good to see Maja getting some minutes too. Have long liked to see how playing BTA alongside another striker might play out for us as I think it might well pay off. Asante and Dike clearly have a rapport with each other but whilst we obviously won't see Dike anytime soon, I think the prospect of playing BTA alongside Maja could be promising. If Maja can build his fitness levels up in time maybe we might see glimpses of this before the season is out?

Aside from Dike, good to see players now coming back from injury which boosts the squad numbers and gives Carlos more options at the time he may need them most. I know they only had limited time on the pitch but thought that all the subs did well again tonight.

As for Reach, maybe we are now at last beginning to appreciate the qualities that Corberan has been talking about for some time. Some of his link up play with Johnston particularly looked good and defensively he was pretty solid tonight as well.

Maybe that phone call to Gareth should be about both Darnell and Adam?😁

Southampton will be a different kettle of fish as Rotherham are league 1 - literally!! Let’s not forget who the opponents were tonight and even Burke would have shined!

Class always comes through in the end.

I’d play Reach every week ahead of Townsend.

Hell, I’d play a traffic cone ahead of Townsend.

What a terrible match, that must be one of the most boring wins that I have ever sat through. Still, three more points!

How the hell Asante didn’t score a hat trick tonight I’ll never know, he missed a string of sitters.

You can't say that Asante doesn't try. He puts a shift in every game and is 100% committed but unfortunately, he is not a natural goalscorer. The number of one on ones he misses mounts up in every game.

This is what worries me. Play a decent side in the play offs and a missed chance could be crucial! Perhaps trying Maja now as he seems more clinical in front of goal. Can’t go on with Asante missing a barn door every match which is a shame as other aspects of his play are good.
