Looking at it like that, I suppose that made sense. I wonder though if it reverted back to that system and the buses were frequent, how many rate payers would be in favour of it instead of being stuck in traffic jams all the time and paying excessive parking fees?

Now they’re spending the money on cycle lanes. Wonder how many are using those in a town/areas built in and around hills.

Can’t say I’m a fan of stupid people who spend public money carelessly.

It’s evident though, stupid people either lap it up or can’t understand what’s happening.

    Ah well.

Also it’s worth remembering that the period of cheap subsidised buses coincided with the era of the South Yorkshire County Council, an organisation that was excellent at overspending and spending money unevenly across its area of influence. Picking up the nickname of Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire showed the alienation amongst the rate payers. They and the bus system was doomed.

    True

Like recently Sheffield Council who were telling everybody that times are hard and sacrifices on spending had to be made resulting in higher council tax bills.

They made that announcement on the same day where they thought it was a good idea to promote a three day city wide event for the MOBO awards.

One of my mates over 80 now won't have a bus pass, never used a bus,
even when working, he walked to & back from Manvers pit, lives in Swinton.

Maybe that’s helped him reach 80 years of age. Good on him.
