Good luck Brinds, with us from the start of our NL journey and put some great performances in, often out of position, especially during Burchnalls reign.

It was clear his time with us had run its course, hope he finds some good work somewhere.

As Nigel Clough let Harbottle go as he was building a promotion squad to get to league 1. As Nigel Clough is a very good judge of players he must have realised that Harbottle was only a run of the mill league2 player not good for his promotion squad. Notts need experienced defenders hopefully with experience of higher leagues. Any suggestions for players that fit the bill. ,?

If we need another keeper on the books, a young lad called Harrison Male is leaving Dorking and is touted by the Non-League Paper as being likely to be 'in demand', ex Leeds academy and a few non-league clubs. Won all their Player of the year awards but they did get relegated....

We might not need exceptional defenders to make a tangible difference to our results. We might just need adequate ones. If we continue to score freely next season but cut out some of the awful defending, we'll be top 7 for sure.

If we lower the bar then we go for adequate (who will probably be contracted for a couple of seasons?) If we have an eye on top 3 (top 7 pah!) next season and whatever comes the season after next then we must go for more than adequate (what's that saying? oh yes, buy cheap buy twice).

We finished fifth with Richard Duffy and Shaun Brisley, who were both average at best. If we just conceded an average number of goals this season, we'd have been right up there. I agree that it's best to buy top players where possible, but with our current lot, an average L2 CB would be an upgrade.

That good a judge it took him ages to get out this league with a big L2 budget ?

Harbottle was never a Mansfield player he was only on loan and id say even if they did want him Hibs are a much bigger club so always likely to join them (even if it hasnt worked out for him)

Nigel would have very much liked to have kept Riley Harbottle but Stags couldn't match the £200k fee that Hibs paid for him. Riley is quite confident on the ball and likes to get forward, scoring 6 goals for Stags last season. Luckily we were able to pick up Lewis Brunt on loan from Leicester who is an even better prospect. Riley is a very good young player and would be an asset to any team in league 2. I'd be quite happy to have him back at Stags again if we can't get Brunt back.
Hopefully you can sort your defence out in the summer and keep hold of your better players. Good luck for next season, it's going to be another interesting one. It's good seeing you back in the EFL.
