    Alan Shearer

Seems quiet in, so let me stir the pot a bit.

As a person, a bit of a dick or pure class?

As player no one comes even close, so please dont take that into account.

But as anything else, is he:

    1. A bit of a dick
    2. A bit boring
    3. Pure class

    😂

Like any of us all of the above and more...depending on your mood.

Generally aways strikes me as an ordinary bloke you' could meet at the pub who could be a plumber.

    Well...I don't know.

As a pundit I think he's fair and pretty insightful.

As a person? You hear stuff (hence the thread, I presume?) but unless you know him or someone close to him then who knows what the agenda is of people saying necative stuff.

I actually think he comes across as being canny and will judge him on that...so I'm adding a fourth category:

    4. Seems canny

I’m gonna be unpopular with this one…

He comes across as very BBC… even with his swearing on the podcast with his MOTD mates it’s all a bit bland.

The really unpopular bit is.. in comparison… based on his personality and banter/wit on a different podcast (and just to add I watch them both on YouTube, not listening, so you get more of the personality when you can see expressions I mean) is I think I would rather have a pint with Roy Keane than Shearer.

Yeah, you hear stuff. But I think its rather unfair and maybe a bit of small town syndrom, if you know what I mean.

I think maybe I would wote for that fourth category zip! 😂 I totally agree, to me he seems canny. Just a normal guy really, with a fantastic talent and superb work ethic.

I like watching the rest is football, good banter there.

I would think Roy Keane would be more likely than Big Al, to spill a pint over your head if he disagreed with you.

I think players are completely different off the pitch compared to on the pitch… and with all these podcasts we’re getting to see actual personalities where they don’t have the strict broadcasting company standards and guidelines to meet.

In fact even your everyday bloke is different on the football pitch too… I’ve put a mate into the boards in a 5-a-side game and dislocated his shoulder… just the nature of competitive sport but never carried it off the pitch.

At a push a bit of 2… but maybe the format of the shows are that different (one has them all remote and one had them all sat together in a room) that he suffers because he’s speaking to a screen on a laptop so it’s hard for his personality to come through.

That said, he’s not exactly mr personality sat together on MOTD, so I’m being generous 🤣
