West Ham United?manager?Sam Allardyce?has revealed that the club are in talks with?Carlton Cole?about extending his contract.

The 30-year-old striker initially left the Hammers at the end of last season, but he?returned?to Upton Park in October, signing a three-month deal.

When asked about Cole's contract situation, Allardyce told?talkSPORT: "Yeah, we've got that in mind.

"We're talking about that (the contract) as quickly as we possibly can because obviously it needs to be addressed."

Cole has scored three goals in 12 appearances this season.

It will probably be our luck that he rejects us & goes to QPR.

Seriously though , I hope he stays but not at the expense of bringing new players in... - view external link (http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/west-ham-united/transfer-talk/news/west-ham-in-talks-over-cole-deal_128009.html)

Or does this suggest, despite Sullivan saying we'll spend big, that no-one else will touch us with a barge-pole ?

Unfortunately that looks to be the case.

I think to attract someone capable of doing what we need will take a huge lump and a very short contract. Think it would be cheaper to get rid of the one that caused the problem.
