I cant see them being banned but I certainly think something is going to happen regarding them. Lot of Councils opposing the opening of new "Bookmakers" (simply mini Casinos) now which must count for something.

Problem is the labour market has became reliant on employment created by these machines, that is the main argument the "betting shop" owners are using now - sure the argument will get deeper as this rumbles on, staff left alone etc... 8, 16, 25, 31 hour contracts for people who regularly work full time.

The Industry has became absurd in England, what with the Gib situation as well and all the tv adverts and also the level of sponsorship connected to Football.

You can punt away 300 bar on a roulette wheel in 60 seconds but 300 quid on an anytime goalscorer in a Premier League match will require a phonecall taking over 5 minutes in most cases, "bookmakers" indeed.

read that bedfred are going to cut the betting shop staffs basic pay and it will be based on the profitability of the fobt machines in the shop.
