If I run repair/update on my windows 7 installation disk, will this overwrite
corrupt files ?

Had Problems with the PC .
Windows media player won't work and will not allow an upgrade or repair.
The windows features on/off turns up blank.
System restore won't give a restore date.
I have run sfc/scannow via cmd and it indicates
corrupt files ( cannot understand the info in
the cbs error log ) so do not know which corrupt files need deleting

Any help would be appreciated , can't afford to
have it repaired .

Try smashing all 7 windows with a mallet,if that doesn't work try smashing the back doors in,that usually works for me..

It probably will fix your problem. However, if you've got docs, pics etc on the same hard disk, then you run a good chance of losing them. Depends whether you've partitoned the drives or not.

My preference here would be for a full re-install, which will wipe all files on the same disk partition, although there will be a 'repair' option if you boot to the install disk.
