Everton Blow As Barkley Breaks Toe.


Ross Barkley could be set for a significant period on the sidelines after Everton manager Roberto Martinez revealed he could have broken his toe after the win over Norwich City on Saturday.

The England midfielder was unable to play in the 2-0 victory after picking up the injury the week before in the FA Cup third round.

Everton broke into the top four of the Premier League with Saturday's win but could now be without their star man for several weeks, potentially forcing him out of the Merseyside derby at the end of the month.

Martinez likened the incident to Leighton Baines who missed the majority of December with a broken toe, the Daily Mail reports.

"We are going to assess him and it seems he is going to be out for a while. It could be broken.

"We are going to assess it to see if there was displacement or not. It is a very similar incident to the one Leighton Baines had.

Not going to disagree there NN. Think sometimes too much can be expected from one player and even in instances that it's unfortunate or forced, a rest is best. Games we have coming up aren't that difficult anyway. Hoping he'll be back for the Spurs game next month. We'll need him fresh and sharp then.
