Not performing well enough to merit being in the starting XI, let alone captaining them.

Even the basics were failing him, as he gave possession away a number of times simply due to a bad first touch.

Nicoll looks to be exactly what we were needing but I think Smith should be given a shot beside him now.

At least we now have some spare capacity in midfield. Smith is at least as good as Chisholm on his day. I'd give him a chance and rest Chis. He and some others need to compete for their places.

It was interesting that Brechin cleared out at least 3 underperforming players prior to yesterday's game. Are we tough enough with our squad? It is difficult to put pressure on players when there are few competing for a place in the team.

If we got rid of all the players who are considered sub-standard, we would be playing the "laddies" by now

I think Smith is a fantastic player but again requires a big strong hard in the tackle player next to him.
