Horrific Oveido leg break overshadows Everton win.


Bryan Oviedo is said to have suffered a double leg fracture in tonight's FA Cup cup match, according to manager Roberto Martinez.

The Costa Rican was clearly distressed, along with his Toffees team mates, after landing awkwardly following a collision in tonight's cup clash against Stevenage Borough, and after lengthy treatment on the pitch the 23 year old was stretchered off and immediately driven to hospital.

Following the 4-0 Everton victory at the Lamex Stadium, Martinez was quizzed on whether there was yet news of Oviedo. The Spaniard told reporters that the left back has suffered a double leg break, and that news suggests that Oviedo will be unable to represent Costa Rica at this summer's World Cup in Brazil.

He told BT Sport after revealing the extent of Oviedo's injury: "A real negative today is the unfortunate incident [Bryan Oviedo's injury] and we need to give Bryan as much support as we can now.

Seen other players recover quickly from this type, so here's hoping it's the same for this guy.

Only hope that his confidence hasn't been destroyed. Bones mend, but bouncing back mentally for such a bad injury is another thing altogether :(

Such a shame.

Can only imagine how gutted he must feel. How many more times will he get to play for his country at a World Cup? :(

Been underrated since we bought him. Get well soon Bryan. Only hope some good comes of this and we get a couple of fresher faces in now that we have an injury/knocks list as long as your arm...

He's really taken his chance and proved his worth to the Club. I just hope that if we do beat Liverpool tonight, we don't get the "That win was for Bryan... " nonsense that players and Mangers tend to come out with when a Player suffers a bad injury etc. B)
