Distin pens new Everton deal.

Sylvain Distin has signed a one-year contract extension at Everton, according to Sky Sports.

The 36 year old, who missed last night's 4-0 defeat in the Merseyside derby with a knock, has been at Goodison Park for the past five seasons, and has now committed himself to the club until the summer of 2015.

The Frenchman has been plying his trade in the Premier League ever since he arrived in England with Newcastle United in 2001, going on to play for Manchester City and Portsmouth, winning the FA Cup with the latter before signing for the Toffee's a year later.

Distin in the second Everton defender to pen a new deal this week after Leighton Baines put an end to rumours that he may be about to move on by signing up.

The centre-back is set to return to Roberto Martinez's starting line-up for Saturday's home match against Aston Villa.
