Just too young for all of them myself, the late 80's were when I got started and when Hirsty came onto the scene in earnest.

Love seeing pics like this though, wish I'd have got the chance to see the Kop full without the roof on.

andy mac! what a player!
he'd put his on a canonball to score if he had to.
curran was my favourite, had the posters, the works. then he went to the 2nd hand tramps and was basically forgotten about.
what a fool (he admits it was his biggest mistake in football)

Nice to see Banpig on his own Pigmad. Curran was booed every game he started with the Blades, no wonder it was a mistake. Thought he could make it at a much bigger club but obviously couldn't.

Agree with you mate about big Andy Mac...If anyone got in his way they were either crackers or very, very brave.

I also had the Curran posters splashed all over my bedroom wall (from the star)...

They actually read...Terry Curran, the Wednesday star...haha feeling owd now. XD

Hirsty, you would have loved the Kop without the roof on mate, it really was something else.
Boxing Day 79 when we destroyed the pigs (are you taking all this in Mahat...Course you are)me and my brother in law were right at the top of the Kop under the big black score board that could never spell (always bulbs missing XD ).
When the first goal went in we were carried a quarter of the way down the Kop by a sea of blue and white bobble hats and silk scarves...Absolutely brilliant ...

Great days...Great club...Great fans...

Another pig myth started by an idiot on porkmad (Croatia) and believed by the gullible pork in there hundreds.
Its just not true and you're showing that you didn't actually attend back in the day like the rest of the FICKLE pork.
Curran was welcomed as some sort of coup for you at first until the penny dropped that his better days were spent at THE WEDNESDAY

Getting old we are Braggy. Just been looking thru a folder I put together of newspaper cuttings I collected 76 to early 80's. Found most of the above, Southend , Oldham , Arsenal 79, BDM...& a crowd of 49,357 v Liverpool in the Milk Cup , Jan 84. Probably was on every I C O , the ones I remember most was the trip to Exeter (will it ever end ) & going to Newcastle twice in a week...happiest times supporting The Wednesday, even with a 70's haircut...;D

Nice one Ginger.
Some great memories from those days mate on the Inter City Owl..And being able to walk past the packed carriages and slide a window down (getting your head back in just before a tunnel)..And stopping in the middle of the track for about 10 minutes just for nowt! :D

you're right about the 70's haircut as well, although my mam bless her just used to put a bowl on my head and cut round it.XD XD

Nay mind, putting the hood up on my Parker soon sorted that out. XD

Keep looking at your folder Ginger cos I reckon going away with Wednesday in the 70's and 80's were the best days of all..It's great now but just doesn't seem to have that same magic feeling as it did back then...We never won owt but we didn't care...Just kept going...A bit like now really...XD

Absolutely spot on braggy...away days in the 70's/80's were the best, some of, probably most of, the football was dire but there was just something special about traveling with the Owls back then...I rarely missed a game home or away for ten years straight & I'll never forget it, brilliant times.

Some of the best memories - the three games at Filbert Street against Arsenal in the cup...away at Derby after we'd been banned after the Oldham fiasco...away at Blackburn which just about meant we were up...Terry Curran's goal at'lane & Kenworthy crying about it...losing at Wolves in a midweek game 1-0, bannister missed two penalties & then the train broke down on the way home.

Nice one ginger..And yeah aussie, so many memories, even as a ****ager, of the 70's.

We were on our way back from Blackpool on the ICO and couldn't believe it when yet again, the train stopped in the middle of the track.
Only this time it had stopped dead opposite another train packed full on Man U fans going back to Manchester..(obviously been playing away).
Everyone just stared at each other and all of a sudden a big red fire extinguisher came crashing through the window about two yards from where i was stood.

All hell broke loose then...The doors of both trains opened and fans of both clubs were getting stuck in big time..XD It was like an old wild west saloon fight but on two trains..XD

Funny when you look back but if it happened today there would be a major outcry..XD

Daft thing was, about ten or so Wednesdayites ended up going back to Manchester with the United fans as the train just set off...
Things that stick in your mind eh.

The Greatest Cup tie - and that's official ! ****holes endless Soccer saga with The Wednesday FC has been the highlight of the career of World Cup referee Clive Thomas...Thomas says " I've refereed matches all around the world but none have been as intriguing as these two matches. ( 1&2 Leicester ). "those matches have been fantastic , I felt in the second half on Wednesday that ****holes must win the game. But The Wednesday fought back so superbly I just couldn't believe they are a 3rd div outfit. This has been a better experience than officiating at World Cup matches " ...Bless you Boyo...I'm proud to say,I attended all 5...thank you my employer at the time. Was gutted after the Highbury one because they scored late on,it was just a big party at Leicester...HappyHappyXD
