Was rummaging through the loft the other day and stumbled across a box of bits that was once my old Commodore Amiga A500.
A complete dinosaur by today's standards but, as a gaming PC, it was miles ahead of its time back in the early 90s.
Used to lock myself away in a dimly lit study for hours on end playing Dino Dini's Kick-Off 2 - not a patch on modern games like FIFA14, but I'll bet it's still strangely addictive even now.. B)

Never really got to grips with Subbuteo - could never seem to flick the players where I wanted them to go.. :D
Me and a mate used to play a lot of Striker, instead..

When I was a nipper the 'flick-it' football game was Newfooty. Similar to Subuteo but the bases were made of lead and the players were cardboard. I think Subuteo took the idea and updated it to more modern materials.
I remember my Mum bought me some green baize and helped me mark out a pitch using tailor's chalk. Used to send off to Newfooty for new players in the colours of your favourite teams.
Happy days. :D :D

Never heard of that one before now, BA.. B)
Quite interesting reading how the two formats developed and then merged into one - STL.. - view external link (http://subbuteo.ugocapeto.com/story.shtml)

Striker required 2 players, Chief. Reckon you might be confusing it with the 1 player variant of Stroker - most popular with ****agers, it normally comprised just one period of less than 5 minutes, you were your own manager so could pull yourself off whenever you liked and each game was always played to a finish.. :D

Grandstand Mini-Munchman was a favourite:

and Grandstand Invader 1000:

Great memories, and even 30+ years later, I could still remember the mini-munchman music exactly!
As for gaming, I started on a Spectrum + 48k with Jet Set Willy, Enduro Racer, Yie Ar Kung Fu and Daley Thompson's Decathlon, to remember a few!

Other than the mighty Pong console, our first foray into home gaming / computing was a BBC Model B - seem to recall spending an inordinate amount of time both playing Defender and waiting for it to load..

I still have occasion to play that game.
