Hi chaps and chapettes.
am just wandering if anyone can give me some advice :?

Ive got a long recurring/returning wrist pain (yeah yeah, I know what will come from this). It feels like a break but twice before I went to A & E and they said (after x-ray) that nothing is broken and it's'probably just a sprain', then giving me a splint with the metal thing and velcro on in and sending me on my way.
The pain has returned again, but this time I have a numb cold feeling in my index finger tip and the wrist pain is worse. I've had a tubigrip on the wrist for three days (my normal administration of treatment) but the pain is worse?
Any ideas from someone would be good, as I know there have been loads of ailments discussed on here over the years.

Have you got any history of Arthritis or rheumatism in your family? I kinda know what sort of work you do but your symptoms may be related to both of those conditions, not an injury but h

First of all, my sympathies to you Chimp as that cannot be funny. My take on this would be to seek medical advice until you get a proper answer. I assume you have paid your National Insurance contributions. If so, you are entitled to proper attention from the NHS.

If you are still fitting carpets, this must affect your ability to work. Do not be 'fobbed off' by your doctor or any other supposed health specialist. Whether it is or not, tell them that it affects your ability to work and you need to get it sorted.

Sometimes you really have to insist!

Good luck with this - keep us informed, mate!

Eve, yeah my Dad has arthritis but in his back. That was an early diagnosis, I think in his 30s.
my mom has arthritis, but only recently, it came on after all the chemotherapy she had.
wokes, yes my national insurance is paid XD and yes it will affect work soon I think as I'm currently working through the pain.
I think the next port of call will be the doc, see what has to be done and yes I'll have to stress that I need resolve fast.

Mate go and get it checked out you're only young and it doesn't seem to be any thing you've done at work that's why I mentioned those two possibilities it will help if you know what is causing you the pain as well.

Sorry to hear it. Possibly a repetitive motion injury? The numbness/coldness brought that to mind, as I've had some issues that caused a similar thing. You can read up about these injuries, discuss them with your doctor. You mentioned that you are working through the pain. If it's a repetitive motion injury, it's caused by something you are doing often and quite possibly work-related. Unfortunately the first step to getting better is to stop doing that, not easy if it's your livelihood.

Morning Chimp, as Robus said it could well be a "Repetetive Strain Injury". If it is the hand/wrist that you use when you are cutting carpets. Holding the cutting knife hard and the pressure needed will cause the problem.

As Wokes stated, go and put pressure on the doctors, after all it is your livelehood that we are talking about. It only took me a month to get a scan on my back!

The worst case senario is that you will need to change jobs. Good luck, I hope you sort it out.
