"Jan Vertonghen's agent, according to an exclusive claimed by TMW in Italy, met with AS Roma officials twice recently. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss a transfer and it's claimed Vertonghen is very up for the move.

Roma are taking some convincing, given the probable high cost. They have other targets and Vertonghen is just one on a list, regardless of his agent trying to push things.

The Belgian has repeatedly been linked with a move away from Tottenham this summer and some of his performances haven't been up to the standards many thought he would maintain. If progression had continued as it looked like it may at Ajax then Vertonghen's agent would be meeting with clubs a step up from Roma, and not having to do all the chasing.

Daniel Levy would want a good fee, that Tottenham got the defender for a good price due to his Ajax contract running down is irrelevant when it comes to a sale. Vertonghen's choice of clubs could be further restricted.

Sandro, Paulinho, Townsend and Dawson not even making the bench today?

I really cannot see how Paulinho will fit in to MP's philosophy unless he changes his game. I feel he will start more EL games.
As for Sandro, I don't think he's a MP player either. He had his chance to prove it v Schalke, but when he came on was off the pace and made an error straightaway.
in an ideal world I'd like to see the beast stay, Somehow I cannot see it.
The ones I can see going, if any, are Sandro, Dawson and Chiriches.

Two centre backs coming in, maybe one and a forward, and a DM.

Another heading for the exit door?

"Southampton have made a £12m bid for Tottenham winger Andros Townsend, Sky sources understand.
Spurs have already rejected a £10m bid for the England international but their Premier League rivals have tested their resolve to keep the 23-year-old."

Another possible signing?

"Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly entered the race to sign £24 million Arsenal target Adrien Rabiot.
The PSG midfielder has been linked with a move away from the French champions after finding his first-team chances limited and the North-London pair both reportedly hope to convince him to join the Premier League.
At 19, Rabiot remains a player who is learning his trade, but he did manage 25 appearances for PSG last season and remains highly regarded at the Ligue 1 club.
The problem for Rabiot is that he is at one of the richest clubs in the world and their regular signings of high-profile stars, which have continued this summer, have pushed him out of regular starting contention.
The central-midfielder has just one year left on his contract and, although PSG want to keep the youngster who is regarded as one of their best prospects, it seems he could be set for pastures new.
Laurent Blanc’s side are under no pressure to sell due to their extreme wealth and, a

"Mauricio Pochettino attended Man United’s League Cup humbling against MK Dons and the Mirror and the Mail reckon the Argentine was at Stadium MK to run the rule over Danny Welbeck.
The Mail says we are keen to sign the England international, 23, on loan, after the he was told he could leave Old Trafford.
According to the Express, United are demanding £16m for Danny Welbeck and the tabloid reckons Ars*nal are currently frontrunners after losing Olivier Giroud to injury but ourselves and Everton also in the frame."

Would you rather have Welbeck or Soldado?

"Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck is closing in on a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur as Roberto Soldado nears a loan switch to Juventus.

The Red Devils are believed to be prepared to offload Welbeck this summer with reports claiming that United want up to £16million for the 23-year-old.

Arsenal were thought to be tracking the England international but, according to The Express, The Gunners’ rivals Spurs are now in pole position to secure Welbeck’s signature before the transfer window shuts on 1 September.

It is claimed that Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to recruit Welbeck to reinforce his attacking options and provide competition for Emmanuel Adebayor and Harry Kane.

And with reports in Italy suggesting that Juve have enquired about signing Soldado on a season-long loan, Spurs are confident that they will be able to seal a deal for Welbeck in the coming days."

who he?

"Montpellier have confirmed that they have accepted an offer from Tottenham Hotspur for defensive midfielder Benjamin Stambouli.
Stambouli, 24, has just one year left to run on his contract at the Stade de la Mosson and is keen to take on a new challenge. He has attracted the attention of Swansea, Marseille and Fiorentina in recent weeks, but appears set to move to London and join the Premier League."

Only 2 days to go, thank god!!!!!

"Tottenham Hotspur defender Zeki Fryers will reportedly join Crystal Palace for around £3million before Tuesday.
That is the claim of the Sunday People, with suggestions the former Manchester United defender has been told he is not part of Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino’s plans."

"Tottenham are confident of tying up a deal to sign Manchester United’s Danny Welbeck tomorrow, according to reports.
The England international is rumoured to be surplus to requirements under new manager Louis van Gaal and has been linked with a host of clubs, including Arsenal, Hull and Schalke.
But Spurs think they will be able to land the 23-year-old in a transfer deadline day loan deal, according to the Sunday Mirror."

Another target I havent heard of.

"Spurs could be about to sign another player you haven’t heard of with a deal for Red Bull Salzburg winger Sadio Mane close, according to Sport Senegal (report via Laola.tv, an Austrian sports news website).

We were first linked with Mane by the Mirror in March, so this news isn’t quite as random as it first seems.

Mane, a 22-year-old Senegal international left winger, apparently went AWOL last week when he left Red Bull’s training camp before their match with Malmo in an attempt to push through a transfer.

It’s worked, and his agent has reportedly been in London since Thursday thrashing out a deal which will cost Spurs about €10m (£8m).

I don’t know a lot about Mane but he has a tremendous record in the Austrian Bundesliga, which includes 13 goals and 13 assists in 33 appearances last season – not bad for a youngin, regardless of the quality of league – and two goals in four appearances so far this term."

"QPR hope to complete a double loan swoop for out-of-favour Tottenham pair Aaron Lennon and Sandro before the transfer window closes on Monday night.
And ex-Spurs striker Jermain Defoe is understood to want a move to Loftus Road just months after joining MLS side Toronto FC.
Both Lennon and Sandro were left out of Mauricio Pochettino's matchday squad for Sunday's 3-0 defeat by Liverpool at White Hart Lane."

What has happened to Sandro that we can let him go and we don't have another tenacious ball winner in midfield? He was a Spurs hero, it don;t make sense. I would have kept Holtby as well.

Hello, Davee59, and while I can see why Holtby has gone, Sandro is a different matter. Surely behind the scenes something must have happened? Like you say, it doesn't make sense.

Would have liked to have seen a new striker, but not to be.

Big season for Soldado/Lamela etc.
