Well, it is Thursday and no chat of forthcoming game so no time to waste. Up against Dumbarton , one of , i not our biggest rival for a play off spot and bit of excitement come the end of the season. We should have a strong team out to do the business and thats what I expect we will do. That is , unless McIntyre wants to play Burns wide left or bench Reilly . Oh , wait -----!l

Another tricky fixture against a team top of the current form league ( last eight games )

There's only 4 points separating teams from 4th - 8th so a win is ***** IMO if we want to pull away from the teams below us .

Yet again this league is the tightest & best in Scotland - view external link (http://www.soccerstats.com/latest.asp?league=scotland2)

Looking forward to this one, it will be a tough game as the Sons seem to score for fun...but they are not the strongest defensively so there should be a goal or two.

The Sons of the Rock scored 45 goals (best in the Championship) but also lost 45 !

Does anyone know anything about the injury to paton

I personally would start young Lewis kidd because Mitchell doesn't know thete is a final 3rd to the park. And the young lad can't do any worse than Mitchell because he is the worst in the team imo

You weren't complaining about Mitchell when he was banging in the crosses last season ;D

Sorry cannot agree at all.

Mitchell is a quality overlapping defender, who 80% of the time has a terrific cross on him.

If you are singling out Mitchell because a ball hit his hand then that is a real shame.

The referee last week should have been 100% certain that Mitchell deliberately handled the ball. By all accounts that I have heard it was ball to hand and in that case no penalty should have been awarded.

There should be the option of an indirect free kick for ball-hand incidents, even inside the box, when no intention was made but because the ball hit a players hand the advantage was lost to the attacking team.

Agree with the rest of your post Jardi but regarding the above, I believe if the hand/arm is in a natural position, it should be treated the same as any other part of the body i.e., no foul given.
This of course still requires interpretation and consistency of application by the referee and therein, as always, lies the ultimate problem.

gotta say tho mitchell hasnt been the same player this season albeit he is in a harder league ,he needs to start getting to the byeline more to put his crosses in as these crosses from 25 yards out are food and drink for championship defenders ,mitchell is by far and away our best rightback at the moment so mr fruitloop not realy much can be done , lewis kidds signing was to keep him on his toes and to have the competition for places in that position .

Hate to criticise, but there is no way Mitchell's 'Good Cross' rate is as high as 80%. In actual fact I think his distribution lately has been pretty abysmal, and that's not as a comparison to his usual standards, in in general. I do like Mitchell and I'm glad he is with us, but his distribution has been the area of his play this term that has seriously frustrated me, which is a real shame as it was arguably his best asset last season :/

Agree. His crossing from being his strongest point has been disappointing this season for some reason.
Could it be the pitch ? Is he carrying a injury? There was the period he was dropped for a few games at the early part of the season randomly.

Would have him in the team every week though and really hope he signs on for us next season.

I must concede that Mitch's crossing has not been as good this season, so I agree that the 80% good cross rating was way off the mark.

I still rate his overall performance in general, although today he was off the pace.

Queens deserved to win today, but 3-1 flattered them, because for long periods in the second half Dumbarton were in control.

Great win for Queens today, between two evenly matched teams. Dumbarton are one of the better
teams i have seen this season on that showing.
With two of our best players missing it was a very valuable 3 points. But to be honest the game could have ended a draw, because both teams had a few chances. Mc Hugh and Kerr both played better today, as so far i`ve not been impressed by them in previous games. Got to ask why did Queens sit back last 25mins it was asking for trouble.Looking forward to next weeks game against the Accies already. Up the Queens!

An extremely enjoyable game this afternoon against a good Dumbarton side .

Credit to them for having a real go at Queens even when they were 3-0 down & we're maybe lucky they didn't make the treble substitution earlier .

Big Durnan was yet again fantastic at the back . Glad we've him signed up again for next season

Very entertaining and about the best first half I can remember for a long while . All credit to Dumbarton as well . Extremely fit part time side that were strong to the end . We deserved win - just- but had a few hairy moments as well with Clark somehow pulling off a brilliant save that was going in to bottom corner. I am hoping I eat my words over McShane . Played well last week and today as well. Getting in to his opponents face more and I like that.

"Big Durnan was yet again fantastic at the back.Glad we've him signed up again for next season."

Agreed. The big fella was immense today, winning absolutely everything that Dumbarton pumped into the box(which was on numerous occasions!)Also getting on to the end of another pin point cross to open the scoring.Sponsors choice absolutely spot on.
Dumbarton gave it some welly and will maybe feel miffed at not getting anything from the game, mostly due to Durnans virtuoso performance at the back.
Was worried when he injured himself with that great tackle to defy the Sons' player a second goal.Hopefully no lasting damage and is fully fit for next week.
Queens hitting woodwork twice in the first half and Russell driving just over the bar before the goals, the second of which just came at the time where you think that it would knock the stuffing out of the Sons.
Wasn't to be though and although McHugh got the monkey off his back with a thumping third, Queens kinda sat back and let them back into

Have to agree with most posts and IMO this was the most entertaining game at Palmerston this season. Both teams were going at it from the start with attacking football and all credit to Dumbarton for keeping going after the third goal when most teams would have folded. The telling Difference in the game was two errors by the Dumbarton keeper at the crosses for both our goals when he came and got nowhere near them. The centre of defence didn't look to be to convincing either when Gav was running at them as I thought they looked a bit slow in that area, however going forward I thought they were as good as what we have played this year and we coped well with them, although there were a few hair raising moments in the last. 20 mins. One of the posts mentioned about queens sitting in for the last 20, however I would say we have to give Dumbarton credit and they pushed us back trying to get back into the match.

The one worry for me was Russell getting booked again. It appeared to me fr

We did enough to win and played some neat football at times but Dumbarton more than played their part in the game.
Dumbarton seemed to be dominating before Mitchell's excellent set piece enabled Durnan to net.Gavin was alive after a great block from Dowie's header just seconds from half time to put us in a great position. The game again seemed equal before McShane slipped McHugh through to rifle home after seemingly taking a poor touch. He seemed to really enjoy the goal and was much more involved than in previous games.Dumbarton got the goal they probably deserved although i thought it may have came of Kane in an offside position on the way in.They were more direct with the three subs on but only made one more serious chance with a cross/shot from the left.Three welcome points with some neat play but room for improvement.
Dumbarton are a tidy team that to me suffered from playing up to Nish.I thought he was really poor.Young McGinn at right back had great pace and a great engine and the

Mitchell is rightly regarded as one of our key players mainly for his willingness to get forward and for his crosses and deliveries from free-kicks, etc. As a full back however his first priority must be to be able to defend and if you were marking him on that ability alone I feel he falls well short of being one of the best in the division. He was constantly being left for dead by Dumbarton players yesterday, especially in the opening stages of the game and the bulk of their early pressure came from that side of the park.
On the game in general, it was an entertaining encounter with plenty of end to end action. I felt that after surviving the early spell of pressure by Dumbarton we looked quite comfortable and built up a good lead. Well done to Bob McHugh for finally opening his account with a cracker of a goal. The old conundrum of going for mor

In the end a good three points against a spirited Sons team who pushed us back in the second half. Next up are the Accies who will be well up for the game as victory at Palmerston will see them return to the top of the league where they were for most of the season before their mini slump.
