I hated the song because a) my sister loved it and b,) it kept my favourite band, 10cc from number one with Rubber Bullets.

I love the song now, but Americans know nothing of T-Rex except for Get it on/Bang a gong.

Ah happy days the early 70s good band 10cc my favourite track from them is art for art sake in fact a couple of weeks ago I bought it on my itunes.

As for Bolan in the states like a lot of bands who were big in the UK just couldn't crack the states mind you Bolans management in the US really screwed up because the first big tour he was support act to Alice Cooper :O what a ridiculous pairing.He was big in Detroit but that was about it I always felt he was a bit ahead of his time going to the states because a couple of years later Kiss made it really big and felt they really copied his style all history now.

On a side note the daftest pairing for a gig I ever saw was Englebert Humperdink with Jimi Hendrix for support XD
