In a morning of sad and bad news (see other thread) Chris Powell has been given the sack by the Belgian owner of the club.
As one of his staunchest supporters, the news comes as a blow but not a total surprise since Chris' position was being made untenable by a board selling Charlton's best players and key assets under his feet as well as failing to bring in adequate replacements and using the loan market in a retrogressive rather than progressive way.
I do hope there are protests and fans vent their anger at the Valley tomorrow in the game against Huddersfield. Reading through the lines it seems Chris was being offered a new contract but with certain restraints over the football strategy going forward. This would mean a puppet appointment with the manager having no say over player procurement as this new board has already demonstrated they couldn't care less when it comes to strengthening the club and taking advice from people who know.
