Pleased for him with this.
We were lucky that he was around when Dario was here. The two of them helped make the club the envy of many

Well deserved. No Chairman will be Mr Popular every day or even every week, but without his full support for Dario's ideas we wouldn't have a Football League Club in Crewe today, never mind one that is a model of financial rectitude and tries to promote playing football the right way, with respect shown to opponents, officials and fans.

Long may he continue . . now about that knighthood for Dario . . . . .

Great honour for John Bowler and the club. One of the two reasons that there is still a Football League club in Crewe

Very well deserved. His critics should remember - he takes no salary from the club, how many other club chairmen do likewise?

Great news for the man, club and the town.

We may have been struggling in the league this season but the club does earn praise from all quarters. A few weeks ago, a friend told me how the club had laid on a special day for a Winsford guy with a terminal illness. He met the players, toured the ground and training facilities and had a great time. As farewells were being said, the guy mentioned he was off to catch a bus back to Winsford. Up steps Steve Davis to give him a lift home in his car.

For anyone who buys the retro football mag BACKPASS, the latest issue has a feature on Bowler written by David Pleat, good article and pics of former players like Neil Lennon, Deano etc.

Superb interview by John Bowler with Tim Wedgewood on Radio Stoke after 6 pm tonight. Makes a change to hear him instead of the continual chats they have with Smurf and Coates.

Briefly mentioned on Late Kick Off last evening, although they didn't go into any detail regarding his career at the Alex, which in actual fact began in 1980. He has been Chairman of our football club since 1987.

On Tim Wedgewood's programme, Mr Bowler sited that one of his greatest achievements, was getting Dario to sign the 10 year management contract.

Bowler's always been a bit of an unsung hero for the Alex, well, since 1980. This accolade is not just deserved for his past achievements, but it recognises what he continues to do - chair a Board that, by and large, has its feet firmly on the ground.

It's worthwhile comparing the solid foundations of our club with those that have been into Administration, some that have disappeared altogether or at least are now lost in obscurity, and the current crop of unstable foreign owners.

Truly deserved recognition of a man who understood that the club always comes first. He would never sell us down the river or spend, spend, spend unnecessarily when many around the club were calling for it, even in times of decline!
Football is all about peaks and troughs - I just thank god we have someone at the helm who recognises that!
A true Alex legend!
