Everton Ditch Arteta Plans.
Everton will not bid for their former midfielder Mikel Arteta this summer after the hostile reception the Arsenal man received from Toffees fans last weekend.
The 31-year-old, who has little more than one year remaining on his contract, could be on his way out of north London at the end of the season, with competition for a first-team spot fierce in boss Arsene Wengers' engine room.
He could be available for a relatively modest fee given the short length of his deal at the Emirates Stadium, and a source close to Everton said a bid or loan move was initially viewed as a possibility.
However, the Spaniard was roundly jeered throughout his sides 3-0 defeat to the Merseyside outfit and he was also involved in a late flashpoint with opponent Ross Barkley.
