The midfielder picked up a problem with his calf during training on Thursday.
Roberto Soldado (hamstring) has trained this week but Tim Sherwood indicated he wasn't ready to return. "Hea??s done well to get back to training, but ita??s too soon, you cana??t rush back a hamstring injury for fear that it will go again, so wea??ll be cautious with him."
Mousa Dembele (hip) is also unlikely to feature while Jan Vertonghen (ankle), Michael Dawson (hamstring), Kyle Walker (pelvis), Etienne Capoue (ankle) and Erik Lamela (back) remain sidelined.
A reminder that tomorrow's match will kick-off at 3.07pm as a mark of respect on the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough Disaster."
