Belated condolences from Charlton Mad to Sergei and her family and husband on the recent death of former British tennis No 1 Elena Baltacha who sadly died of liver cancer on Sunday 4th May.
This was a very sad loss of a great tennis player who battled throughout her career and reached the top 50 not that long ago in 2010 and held the number 1 spot for some years. She also set up an Academy for promising young players in Ipswich.
Her father, Sergei Baltacha, is a Coach in the club's academy and highly respected on the training ground at Sparrows Lane so our deepest sympathies go to him at this time.
