Gerard Deulofeu says he is waiting to see what happens with Barcelona before he knows whether he will be returning to the Nou Camp to fight for a first-team place or taking up the option of a second loan spell, potentially with Everton.
While a number of media outlets have taken the 20 year-old's comments as suggesting that he has ruled out another season at Goodison Park, the direct quotes suggest that neither he nor his parent club have made a decision either way.
"I would like to return to Barca and this is my first option," Deulofeu said.
"I feel very happy with the season I have had at Everton and have great respect for Barcelona. I also know I have to wait until the end of the season and then we will see what happens.
"Now I have had a year on loan at Everton I am waiting to be told something. Nobody has said anything to me."
