" A union is claiming that the London Underground could be "completely shut down" over the bank holiday weekend as staff prepare for another strike.

Workers who control the power to run the Tube are preparing to walk out in a dispute over pay, according to Unite.

The 40 technicians, mostly members of the union, work in the control room that provides the power for the 270-station network.

The strike is due to start at midnight on Saturday and last the entire weekend until 8am on Tuesday.

A Transport for London spokesman told The Independent they "expected" to be able to keep the Tube running by replacing the striking workers but could not guarantee it.

Talks were being held on Monday between the unions and London Underground managers, mediated by Acas, to resolve the dispute before the strike is due to start.

Commuters prepare to travel on the District Line of the London Underground during strike action on 30 April 30, 2014 Tube strikes in April caused havoc for passengers. Becaus

If you are coming from North into Kings Cross / St Pancres its not much of a problem to take the overgound.

Some decent enough boozers down Euston Road. You wouldn't make a special trip to any of them but they will do. The Rocket is about 10 mins walk from Kings Cross as I remember and opens at 10.00. Euston Tap opens at 12.00 on Sundays as does Green Man. Green Man is 20 minutes from Marylebone.

Train to Wembley takes about 10 mins and departs at 13.09 and 13.28, so you can easily get a pint in the three former mentioned boozers and get to Wembley for 1.30-2.00 to feel the atmosphere.

Can't remember if travel cards are valid on overground however.

Travelcards are fine for overground. Thinking about it even if undergrounds running this is as good an option as any as most of the orient fans will come straight through on tube via Liverpool street so it will be less busy overground. We get in kgx at 10.15 so it works perfectly as we can start in the parcel yard on the station, down to the rocket before knocking on the taps door at 12. Sorted.

Whatever the local London transport do they won't stop overground coming in or leaving as its different companies. Into KGX its East Coast Mainline or First Group, out of Marylebone its Chiltern Railways in the main the Birmingham service. Sure its got little or f all to do with Travel London strike.

Just looking on line Chiltern stop at Wembley Stadium when events are on as well not just the regular station.

As per previous thread on this, if you have an oyster card then you can use them on the red london buses.

Booked my tickets from Warwick parkway to Wembley Stadium with Chiltern trains Ai28.90, but you dont get the wembley way experience like you do when you get off the tube though.

Hobo, you seem to know lots about the travel pal.
Right we get into kx at half 12 ish. What do you recommend we do if tube is off. We are staying at quality Wembley hotel. We have a family card. How do we get to Marylebone station and is it viable to walk with a 5 year old
Soz for being a plank.

nrly 2 miles walk, but its easy, just turn right out of King Cross and walk down A501 heading West past St Pancras then Euston but with a kid, jump in a taxi at the cross.

Wouldn't walk to Marylebone with a 5 year old from Kings Cross mate.

It should be about A? 12 in taxi.

Quality Hotel is 1/2 mile up from the overground station, about a 1/4 of a mile from Wembley Park underground round the back nearer the Orient end.

If undergrounds running you should take it. If not get a cab outside KGX.

Cheers for that.
What's route using tube? (sorry, just being lazy).
Like I said staying at quality Wembley hotel so just want single to there. Will stay around Wembley at night.
Next day just wondering if we should get a day pass for the tube (if running) and do the museums etc. Train back to donny half 8ish.

If the tubes working then go direct to Baker Street on the Hammersmith & City/Metroplitan or Circle, then change to Bakerloo to Wembley Central.

You can get travel cards on the day from Wembley Central on the Monday.

Plan was to come off M1 at Stanmore , park up and then Tube to Wembley as we did last time there. If tube not running any one got suggestions of where to park as alternative ,otherh than around stadium, with possible overground link to stadium

Goto South Ruislip. 9 mins on overground to Wembley. 49 Minutes to the hour. Remember we played Wealdstone in cup and were invited back to the club bar for the play off against the daggers. Realistically you want to be on the 12.49 latest to get the best out of the occasion. Returns are 39 minutes to the hour. Costs about a AŁ 6.

I tweeted Transport for London this morning and got the following reply...

"Hi, the proposed strike relates to staff in London Underground power control team, and London Underground has plans in place to ensure that services run as normal"

If there is disruption this really affects Orient fans movements.

TfL will be far more worried about the Saturday game I'd imagine. That'll be a sell out.

Can't believe that there'll be disruption even if there is a strike.
