Kilmarnock Football Club is delighted to announce that 22 year old Irish central defender Mark Connolly has signed a three year deal to become Allan Johnston’s fourth signing of the summer.
Mark started his career at Wolverhampton Wanderers and showed enough promise as a youth to persuade Bolton Wanderers to part with £1million to sign him at the age of 17.
Connolly has already had a small taste of what to expect in Scottish football thanks to a short loan spell at St Johnstone in 2010. After returning to the Reebok Stadium Mark found his first team opportunities limited despite being captain of the reserve side and went out on loan to Macclesfield Town in 2012 before leaving Bolton that summer.
After leaving Bolton Wanderers the central defender joined English League One side Crawley Town where he has spent the last two seasons making 80 appearances.
Mark has also gained experience at international level having represented the Republic of Ireland 7 times at U21 level.
