E, I'll take a stab at "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen.

Btw, Tony, how come nobody seems to platy the sitar anymore in western music?

Is I Michael Stipe as Gav says? I thought it was Ben Volpeliere Pierrot from Curiosity Killed The Cat (but then I always thought he looked like a younger version of Michael Stipe!)

F Chesney Hawkes

I was actually in two minds whether to say Stipe or Ben Volpeliere Pierrot from Curiosity Killed The Cat, as you say both look similar, but i'm sure Volpeliere Pierrot didn't have sideburns, i may be wrong :blue:

Btw, Tony, how come nobody seems to play the sitar anymore in western music?

I don't know Tunds, but good question! I'd hazard a guess that:

A ) Very much "of it's time" in the hippy days - and even then a rather esoteric, acquired taste - fallen out of fashion since it's not especially accessible/chart friendly

and

B ) Devilishly hard to play!! Even accomplished Western musicians like George Harrison and Brian Jones struggled to master it...many of today's inept choreographed dancers can barely strum a guitar let alone handle the sitar!

So only average 1960's guitarists were ever able to have any mastery of the Sitar! XD XD XD

rents/gav

it was michael stipe.

tunds/rents

not much of a fan of the sitar sound tbf.
i reckon with all the effects boxes that are available now , you could find summat that replicates that type of sound.

ronnie wood has a sitar/guitar , don't know if
he uses it when t'stones actually play
paint it black , which funnily enuff aint one of my fave trax.

Oh I wouldn't say that...I never mentioned anyone who was only average ;D

But by the 70s the sitar sound was out of fashion with fickle Western ears so the overrated guitarists around then like Clapton presumably never bothered with it B)

Greavsey... "Paint It Black" is probably my favourite Stones track ever.

What's yours?
