In talks with Alan Tate the centre half from Swansea.

Like Butler, why would he join bottom of the league squad?

I really dont know but he sounds just the type we need.
Get him in, and if he impresses, give him the armband!

big strong defender - was a regular but prob not as quick for prem league

played 100s of games

good shout long as we dont have to wait 6 months to get him fit

Looks to have the right profile and, if he comes, at least we know he's up for the battle.

Slightly perturbed by his total of 35 first team apearances over the last three seasons, that's why he's available for loan I suppose...

Agree - get him in, an bring a few good mates with him.
Disagree - the armband must stay with an Alex player. Toots is having a poor time, but losing the armband would shatter his confidence right now.

Now if it were rugby or cricket, I'd agree - but football?
Not so sure it's that big a deal but you might be right.
I just think Toots is bigger than that though ...
