"Former Bayern Munich manager Felix Magath has bought around a 1% stake in Rangers International Football Club.

He purchased the shares late last year, and has held discussions with one of the groups vying for control of the club, but it is not Robert Sarver.

Magath has no ambition to succeed Ally McCoist as Rangers manager, but does want to rebuild the club's football infrastructure as technical director."

There's clearly an appetite out there for people to get involved in The Rangers. It has a strong fan base, and good bricks n mortar infrastructure albeit with a relatively underperforming/poor squad and manager.

Irrespective of how old it is, The Rangers would tick a lot of the boxes for a Sleeping Giant.

The unusual thing seems to be that their current board want to rebuff advances from folk wishing to plough money into the club.

From what little we know of what's going on there, this makes little or no sense unless the current board are merely interested in asset strippin

Would be interesting the know what the various agendas are of those involved. We will never know of course but from the outside there appears to be a high degree of self interest involved.

Should not be a problem as investors want to protect their investment but the rebuffing of approaches with money burning holes in pockets just means that the investment is used to purchase shares on the open market and it does not help the club.

And one would have thought that a successful club would be one that even more people would want shares in.

It's a chicken and egg situation with an obvious need of finance to kick-start things into an upward spiral rather than the current/recent downward spiral.

That's why its so mistifying that those who own shares don't seem to want to have outsiders invest in the club.

It's as though they think there'll be someone else along offering even more money for their shares while the very delay means that the club itself will suffer. They are NOT the actions of people who have the best future of the club at heart.

They value a POSSIBILITY of them making even more money on shares they picked up for a song, higher than the likelyhood of the club improving if they were to let businessmen with money and a business plan come in and take it over.

How they have the gall to portray themselves as "rangers men" beggars belief!

As an impartial observer with normally no interest in the matter, there does seem to be an awful lot of fingers in the pie, and lots of vested interests to overcome.

It's always worrying to see a small club in such financial straits, so I wish them all the best in their struggles.

" rangers men"?

The only real rangers men are folk like Bluek, these other guys might love rangers, but they love money more...seemingly.

manofsteel is right.
They are prepared to risk the whole thing collapsing again in order to maximise return to themselves.

The time for rebuilding Rangers has long past, even rebuilding Sevco is gonnae take a long time tae get them back tae the debt free organisation they started out as in 2012.

Not really, if they accept the takeover bid it will only take a few weeks.

The important thing is Rangers have no chance of winning the play-off unless their form dramatically improves.

If they accept the Yanks offer, they start with a £6m debt in the guise of a loan.

Most Football clubs are in some sort of debt to their owner(s).

A club the size of Rangers run properly could handle £6m plus debt no problem.
As long as the repayment was sensible

But we are constantly being told that the organisation currently costs more to run than it makes - so this £6m debt would very quickly increase, would it not?

A club the size of Rangers ?????? Newco Rangers have a turnover of approximately £20m which is paltry for a fitba club with huge wages and running costs...excess of expenditure over income can only last so long, its that simple really.

Correctamundo, hopefully they lose today as i have backed alloa at 17/2!!
Scottish football has shown that they dont need ranjurs at all and the words from the chairmen that say a league with ranjurs is a strong league is just empty meaningless wurdz..
