Let's hope the British govt respond better to this crisis going forward. It would be reasonable to take 50 or 60k refugees. This is of WW2 proportions. Scotland could absorb 5 or 6k.

BobJRDobbs, The afore mentioned Katie Hopkins response to the Human Tragedy was this,

" Show me bodies floating in the water.Play violins and skinny people looking sad, I still don't care,

So sad that the young boy and his family had relatives here in Canada willing to sponsor them but the heartless Canadian conservative government denied their application on their lack of proper identity papers .
FFS they were fleeing a war zone ,they are Syrian Kurds who have no government and you want them to show identity papers.

The current Canadian government are going to be voted out in the election next month, they have put a nation of immigrants which Canada is in a bad light worldwide, shame on them.

Shame on the UK and the USA for creating the problem and doing little when human beings are being sacrificed.

Where's tony Blair and John Reid etc, these war criminals have a lot to answer for.

Increasingly looks as if the world's oceans are floating with dead migrants.

It's beyond scandalous.

:blue: Can't imagine what the dad must be feeling. Risked everything, lost everything, and returning to Kobane with the bodies. Don't see how a man could carry on living after that. Puts all our own problems into perspective. :blue:

When Dubrovnik was bombed in the Balkans War in the 90s the world woke up - despite much worse happening in Vukovar, it was more of a shock to the world to see the medieval fortified city in flames. The world then slowly started acting.

This poor young lad and the image of him on the beach is the 'Dubrovnik' of this situation.

By all accounts Syria was a nice enough country to live in during years gone by - fairly secular and advanced by middle east standards - but now you combine the brutality or Assad and ISIL in the one landmass.
The EU countries and others all need to agree to take their fair share - as difficult as that may be to cope with.
