Bolton at home was very much the sort of game Charlton were expected to at least win, Burnley wasn't but nonetheless a defeat turned easily into a thrashing.
Charlton started the first half brightly with efforts from Ricardo Vaz Te, Reza Ghoochannejhad and Johnnie Jackson, after which Burnley scored the opening goal on the stroke of half time, Arfield scoring on 44 minutes. The other three Burnley goals followed after the break. Arfield scored again on 53 minutes. The Charlton players' confidence shot to pieces Gray followed on 55 and Vokes on 78 minutes.
Charlton move down to 23rd place on goal difference.
