Thats probably because, when you went to see him play in Hartlepool, it wasnt really him but a tribute band ??

Lol...I saw him in Manchester back in 1972, saw Lou Reed three days later and then came to Derby for the first time at the end of the week. Both great performers and now both sadly gone. Happy daze and happy memories but the legacy of his music will live long.

I was pee'd off as well.. Some thought it was okay but the Laughing Knome was just not the same when sung, in a northern accent, by someone who was still chewing his spam.
15 quid wasted.

Mad lyrics. What a genius!! Sort of reminds me of mark e smith from the Fall.
He wasn't really my kind of musician, but like our girl says, he could belt out a tune, and he was very charismatic. Whenever he did interviews he seemed a nice lad. A waste.

Does anyone else think this is very spooky and prophetic of David?

Not very prophetic as we're all destined the same way in a short while.

He was a very good pop star and it is sad, as it is about anyone when they ndie but the media has gone insane about him, better than the beatles????? - everyone over the age of 10 will have been affected by his death???? etc. etc. etc. I was half expecting a minutes silence at the game last night and all the players in black arm bands. Come on talk about over egging.

Ramspride You do have a point but he has more effect on my life than any Prime Minister or member of the royal family has ever had Don't suppose he will get a state funeral though

Perhaps a little OTT ramspride, but he should never be underestimated. Yes, The Beatles were massive but actually only stayed together for nine years. Bowie, in his various incarnations, was creating and performing for almost fifty years - 1966-2016 - and not many can say that. He had a huge and innovative impact on music and culture over six decades. In the grand scheme of current world issues he may not be that important, but in the world of modern music, art and popular culture he was, to coin a David Coleman phrase, 'quite remarkable' and we are unlikely to see his like again.

He had an effect on me.........I have hated gnomes ever since I heard his song "I'm a laughing gnome". Forget Heroes or Starman that was the first song I put on Youtube when I heard he had died!!!!

He recorded a whole album of Anthony Newley type songs back in the late 60s. Without checking I cannot recall what it was called.....It was something like rubber band?
