I'm nae clever enough to post pictures ... so words will have to do......
Simple Minds have a Live Album from a tour they did 4 years or so ago. It's called "5 X 5 Live". Basically, it's 5 songs each from their first 5 albums ..... and it's f@@kin' brilliant! "In Trance as Mission" and "Pleasantly Disturbed" are epic. Download it and enjoy .... :D

Dusted down this under rated effort fae the Ozz man and it brought back memories.
I remember saving up for the Perry Mason (Great tune by the way,) single fae this album and being amazed to see uk tour dates in November on the inside and a flyer with in store signings. The Glasgow date(Barras) was complete with signing at hmv and it was the week of my 12th birthday. I begged my folks as it would have been a kick ass birthday but to no success. Still annoyed with them to this day 20 years on. Parents can be cruel

Hi all. Long time viewer and occasional poster in the past (but can't for the life of me access my old account).
Been some great musical memories popping up. I was at Too Heavy 4 Half Time gig the other week, frikkin brilliant, they've still got it....but Lars's drumming is as sloppy as ever! Good balance of old and new (to me anything after Justice is new!!!!)
Bucking the trend of metal/rock today I have mostly been listening to Roaring by The Lorelei. Cracking wee album from local stalwarts and up for Aberdeen Music best album award:
http://www.aberdeen-music.com/topic/58290-best-album-2016-fudge-awards/
Think I prefer Faces but it's great album with some magic stuff on it!

Thats exactly what I thought when I first heard it but some it does grow on you. Beauty and the Beast is great but I should probably have added Heroes to my overrated albums list. I have would say its maybe his most inaccessible record, the title song is a total red herring.

Closer is an easier listen than Unknown Pleasures? Really? Closer is a tough listen, I would maybe go as far as to say its at times unlistenable but just my opinion I suppose. Disorder, New Dawn Fades, She's Lost Control, Shadowplay and Interzone are great songs on what is their best album for me. Some of the other tracks which never made it on to an album like Transmission and Dead Souls were also really good.

Music threads on this site used to be entirely pleasurable, and an opportunity to identify some decent new albums. I'm definitely going to try the new Coral one out this week.

Like to back up Pacman's earlier post. Mastodon are utterly fantastic. Totally unusual, and can understand why some don't like them, but crazy good imo. If it wasn't for SOAD, they'd be my favourite current band.

The Coral were a reasonably popular indie band back in the 90's. Most punters with any semblance of musical knowledge would be familiar with them. They have just released a new album with decent reviews. Hence it should be worth a listen.
You make a good effort of keeping the site going Pacman, but your musical taste is reflective of where this site is going ;D

Been on a Youtube binge lately. Heard Spellbound by Tygers of Pan Tang for the first time, great album. Also listened to Hard Volume by Rollins Band, Speed Metal Symphony by Cacophony, Here Are The Sonics by The Sonics, first 2 FNM albums, Trans Europe Express by Kraftwerk, The Top by The Cure and So Alone by Johnny Thunders.
Some great stuff there. God bless Youtube.

Both better than smelly music anyway. In fact, Joy Division were one of the few bands that managed to straddle both the smelly and deodorised worlds. Bit like Mogwai.

I used to wonder why Transmission and LWTUA weren't on albums. Not sure if it was a common thing for bands but JD and then New Order didn't put the lead single on the album. Transmission was the single to introduce UP whereas Love Will was the pre-cursor to Closer. Temptation and Blue Monday were the same I think.

Toys is a good album but Rocks is their best.
Its a travesty that so many people see Aerosmith as a cheesy rock band when at their peak they made some great music.
I think JD and NO not putting singles on albums was partly just to give two fingers to the industry and how things were normally done but it might also have been with one eye to releasing them on a compilation, so if fans wanted all those non album singles together they had to buy the album. In New Orders case the album was Substance.

Aerosmith
Rocks
Toys In The Attic
Draw The Line
Get Your Wings
Are all excellent proper rock n roll.
Pump was one of my favourites as a nipper. Still good now but not as good as that 5
"Crying", "Crazy" and "Dont Want to Miss a Thing" ruined them
MeadowbankRed
17-03-2016, 08:29 AM
Aye their first 5 albums were all good even the debut.
Pump is good but I always thought the second half was weak which stopped it being a true classic. Preferred Permanent Vacation myself.
The song which ruined them proper was that awful Armageddon tune, absolute poop. They also became lazy and relied too heavily on a formula i.e. too many schlocky ballads.
Still havent heard the last one they released might give it a blast soon. Nine Lives and Just Push Play were pretty awful though.

If you watch as much basketball as I do you see the clash of kings ad about every 2 mins anyway the song on it, I wanted to know who and what it was, (kongos - come with me now if anyone is interested)
anyway turns out these kongos loons are all brothers are their old boy is john kongos who did the original version of step on by happy Mondays
internet is a great place sometimes
Ah, the Kongos! Not to be confused with the Congos (like I just did) who were also very good in a different genre (see link). - view external link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RV9jJB4tAo)

Burn the Witch by Radiohead. Peach.
Aye, it's good. They are back. The Tom Robinson show the other night played the new album in it's entirety. Something I'll need to listen to on the iplayer radio app. True Love Waits is on the album, a song which has been in their live shows for nearly twenty years. I wonder what the album version sounds like. The live version is gorgeous.

Watched Burn The Witch on youtube last night. It's a great tune. A richt grower. The video has sinister elements. Reminds me of the Paranoid Android video.

Pacman, mind keep us up to date with any news you hear about Destruction tours. I was particularly amused to hear you mention them because I had just read this rather excellent description of their first album on the metal archives:
"So the winner is Destruction and Infernal Overkill is the mother****ing skullcrushing poserkilling satan-worshiping 666 **** YOU greatest german thrash record"

Was listening to this cooking the tea. Still find it hard to believe his vices were coffee and fags only.

Listening to Lipstick Traces, MSP b-sides album. Some really good stuff on it. Strip It Down, Bored Out Of My Mind, We Are All Bourgeois Now, Forever Delayed.
Suede, Oasis and The Verve all had some brilliant b-sides as well, stuff that should have been on albums.
