Another 30 odd years of this and we'll know how you feel alferoo.

Correct Alfi.
A very poor, boring game where we never really had a go. Worst Derby of my lifetime and a timely reminder of why I got board with football.
Perhaps if the cheating diving Rovers players had stayed on their feet we would have got something.
A thorough professional performance by Burnley but who could ever want to watch that every week?
Hope you go up but don't care too much either way

Burnley comfortable in their win IMO, solid at the back. Heaton hardly troubled for all our possestion and 'pressure'. How they get results is no fluke, I can see that today.

Awful comments in Lambert interview but Dyche correct in every word.

What are you on about? They are top of the league. Shambles and shame? Do one.

Missed the interview Sven, what did Lambert say?

And I'd hardly say we blew it Alf, it was clear as day that if the game had gone on until midnight Rovers wouldn't have scored. Duffy was unlucky, but it was the right decision to award a pen. A very organised display from Burnley. Rovers looking better game by game, but as Sven said, the diving hardly helped.

Lambert blamed the penalties but theirs was one and ours was a blatant dive. He should have stood up and scored

after seeing Burnley I think they may go up. I will edge my bets they will be straight back down again. We look average, they look slightly better than average. If they go up, another season like the 2 others will ensue.

Given their desire to grab the cash and use it wisely. I'd say Burnley probably will come straight back down, but be stronger for it and do it again, just like this season.

They look better than average as well, after they got their goal they sat a bit deeper in very well organised banks. Our players had OK space until they got to the 18 yeard box, where they suddenly had none. That's not average, that's good organisation and disipline.

Well some great comments on here, had a look at your other site earlier, unbelievable stuff, no understanding of the game at all. Not great to watch, but once in front we contain and control the game, only once this season has a team got anything from a game once we get in front (draw against Wednesday away). Top of the league, top of the form table, top of fair play table, strongest bench we have ever had, never known anything like it. Who knows next season it could be your turn.

Well. It's hard for someone who wasn't there to make head or tail of this game.
Many people who WERE there - including Rovers supporters - are saying we just used hoof-ball and hardly ever looked like scoring. On the other hand, a different group of supporters - including some Burnley fans(!) - say we were clearly the better side and deserved at least a point.
Paul Lambert's view?
"I thought in the Middlesbrough game we were fantastic but we raised the bar again. The chances, the two penalty claims were massive, we dominated the game from start to finish."
I take it not many would agree with that assessment? (I hope he's not going to do a Kean on us!)

The LET site is no help. In fact, it's a shambles. You'd get more sense out of the love-child of Ronald Reagan and Sarah Palin than most of the posters there. One of them only has three words, one of which is "d*ckhead"!
I suppose this is what I deserve for not being there to see the games myself.

Well, probably not me you are asking but I thought it's not a black white thing. We let you have lots of the ball, but that's just the way we play, you created very little in the way of chances, I can't remember a save in the second half. Had you scored we would have changed our gameplan (like at Bolton last week) we tend to make teams look good but we're not where we are for nothing. Really couldn't see you scoring plenty of ball but no real pressure.

Very fair appraisal,Burnley do stand off and see what the opposition has got,and to be fair it hasn't done us any harm thus far.

That's better munky, everyone is being very fair on this thread, no need to act the prat.

Best of luck Burnley for the run in, you've won my respect, esp Mr dyche. A very intelligent manager.

Eh! All of a sudden you respect them?
The 'winds of change' !
They simply do well what they do best, and much of this is down to their manager. Just as it was prior to us playing them.
The game? We were undone by a very unfortunate conceded penalty, yes Duffy took too long to address the ball, but he had good possession of it at the time. It was down to Boyd putting his foot in at the last minute, not for the ball, but for contact. He was grinning ear to ear when the ref signalled.
Our play on the whole was not too bad, but what was woeful was the delivery from both open play and set piece! Why is it that for what must have been 90% of them they failed to lift the ball and beat the first man???
We were given the chance and as said in the title 'blew it'.
IF we had scored in the 15/20 mins of dominance I disagree that they would have had it them to change tack and come onto us. For me in that period they looked fairly nervy, maybe because of the 'derby factor'.

Well munkey I would like to know where the long ball was
we played well but ultimately deserved to lose Burnley defended in numbers and didn't give us a way through
they will go up and deserve to
their rope a dope tactics work a treat in this league and as much as I can't stand you lot I have to applaud you
a beautifully run football club something we once were.

I think Lambert got it wrong playing Gomez personally. I think when it was obvious he was having no joy he should have brought on brown earlier and gone more direct. He's far more suited a derby battle.

Gomez was awful.Every ball he put into the box didnt clear the first defender.Again Graham i thought was impressive but as he plays with his back to the goal(his hold up play has surprised me)he really needs someone alongside him who knows where the net is.

For all our possession and pressing we never really looked like we were going to score.

Had it been a derby battle we would have had a better chance.

It never was because Burnley were so organised they controlled the game from start to finish using the same tactics that have done well all season. If we had scored they would have changed as they did against Bolton.

They gave us sufficient room to flatter to deceive but we never had the quality to trouble them and they knew it.

I think David Dunn should have been brought on for the final quarter.
