Alan Vega, Suicide frontman.
78, never thought he was that age.

Was it suicide?

Apparently not, "peacefully in his sleep" I think.

Rocket USA, brilliant song. No, I never realised he was that old either.

The vile, sordid wee spitting neds that came to the Clash/Coventry Specials (aye, them)/Suidice gig at Aberdeen Music Hall in 1978 tried to intimidate Vega, but he stood his ground and took them on. Not one of the snivelling nasty wee ****es would have lasted two minutes with him in a square go.

I imagine many of them are now boasting about how they saw Suicide at their rawest in 1978.

RIP Alan. Dream Baby, Dream

Apparently, he got an axe launched at his heid one time supporting The Clash, allegedly in Glesca I think.

Cheers 57 - Seen them support the Clash at the Kinema, Dunfermline July '78 and been a big fan since.

The 'axe' is mentioned in this article ...

Yas min. Great souvenir.

I had a White Riot poster from the 77 tour when I saw them play at the University Union, but it disappeared years ago.

They were due to play in Aberdeen again in 82 when Strummer disappeared and was found in Paris. Ticket holders from Aberdeen were bussed up to Inverness to see them at the Ice rink, another great gig.
