I am an old rocker that prefers nu metal. Although with age I find I can listen/tolerate most genres given the right situation.

I grew up on Zeppelin/Queen/ Gallagher/UFO/ Lizzy etc and still get a little nostalgic every now and then but nowadays tend to be more into Avenged Sevenfold, System of a Down,Slipknot AlterBridge etc

Whats your genre?

I'm a blues guy from way back, graduated to classic R&B.

Robert Cray rocks. I saw him at Kitchener Blues festival a few years ago, quality act.

Robert cray is excellent whilst Jo Bonamassa bores the tits of me. Good guitarist without question but yawnsome live!

No argument there....but then there wouldn't be - as never held anything for Bonamassa. ;)

Big Tamla Motown lover. Playing more of it as I get older. Think it's nostalgia and bringing back good memories.

Love listening to Andrea Bocelli in quieter moments.

Al Bowlly, Rachmaninov, Mozart, John Barry, Beethoven and Richard Wagner.

I also like The Big O, 60s and 70s music including T Rex, Rod Stewart, Pink Floyd and Queen.

I am also quite partial the music of Astor Piazolla.

Quite diverse really.

CaspertheClaret

Very diverse OTR
Rod Stewart despite the fact that he comes across as a bit of a comedy figure and did have some really dodgy songs in the 80s/90s, did have one of the best voices in rock in his early days.

As someone else has stated, "anything that touches me at the time" ranging from slow jazz, pop, Floyd, Zep Soul, Dire, Classical, indian, even lift music if I'm in the mood, never rap, garage or Country music.

I used to like Leonard Cohen in my younger days, not for his voice as he never could sing but his words touch me, I have a DVD of him at London's O2 in 2008 that I play every few weeks.

from.....Wow!

I never really got Kate! I mean as a ****age lad when Kate did her stuff on moors and in leotards and with swords and ****, I got that obviously but musically she never really touched me.

Just spent the last hour seriously doing a bit of reseach and I kind of get her a bit more now. I wouldn't say she is someone that I feel really pushed boundaries in terms of music however I am sure she has subconsciously inspired a whole host of artists from a performing arts/visual arts point of view.

I still think she was fit as **** though!

Same here Casper.....appreciated her artistry....but she wasn't heavy enough for me back then....not enough for her fill a place on the bedroom wall....or my denim :)
Brought through with the assistance of Dave Gilmour....learnt the art of mime from Lindsay Kemp...as did Bowie, and something we wouldn't find through a little search....or perhaps even a big one - in the early days....she was paranoid about her nasolabial folds...or smile lines. ;D

Lyrically....continually penetrating the veil.

Wow.

When the actor reaches his death,
You know it's not for real. He just holds his breath.
But he always dives too soon, too fast to save himself.

Her nasolabial folds are part of her beauty! Her insecurity about them are part of a common trait of youth which when continues into adulthood can be considered to be a Mental Health issue.

I never got the feeling from Kate that she tried too hard to be different but rather that difference was what made her Kate. That as an Icon works ala Morrisson/Bowie/Buckley/Mitchell et al. What she lacks is cutting edge in terms of enduring shaping of the future of rock and roll but she never claimed to be a revolutionary.

I'm with Norder when he says "as long as it touches on where i'm at"

If the mood takes me I can listen to anything from Indian, Pink Floyd to Classical.

At the moment I bought the Leonard Cohen Live in London DVD and watch it at least once a week, not because he can sing as he cannot but the tunes and words just do it for me.

so visible...at such a young age...self examination being part of her...process .
- Insecurity - certainly more common amongst young these days...with all the bathroom mirror, hairbrush, xfactor goings on....visits to the surgeon being not just the haunt - of older ones.

I never got the feeling from Kate that she tried too hard to be different but rather that difference was what made her Kate.

there would have been an angle - she had people behind her - pulling the strings...but to what extent...who knows - but she wasn't on the (so-called) scene...kept quiet distant....and nothing wrong with that ;)

I’m a jazz fan from way back. This weekend it’s the Waterloo Jazz festival, certainly not a big deal by anyone’s reckoning, but popular in my neck of the woods. Headliner is Emilie-Clair Barlow, a Toronto area born jazz artist, recognized in country/internationally.

Don’t forget Diana Krall and Michael Buble are Canadian and continue to promote the genre.

You’re probably correct, both Krall and Buble have gravitated to mainstream over the years. I did have the pleasure of attending a Tony Bennett/Krall concert a few years ago in Toronto, that was some show, two totally professional/classy artists. And yes, Dianne Reeves is pretty good too.

We’re fortunate to have 24 hour jazz station here, one of the very few stations that support the genre 24/7. It’s available online.

Don't worry, if there's hell below
We're all gonna go

Brothers and the whities
Blacks and the crackers
Police and their backers
They're all political actors

Hurry
People running from their worries
While the judge and the juries
Dictate the law that's partly flawed
Catcalling, love balling, fussing and cussing
Top billing now is killing

And if there's a hell below

Lord, what we're gonna do

Tell me what we gonna do
If everything I say is true

One man's hand is another man's stub, one man's feast is another man's grub
One man's dread is another man's dream, one man's sigh is another man's scream
One man's water is another man's wine, one man's daughter leave another man's cryin'
For every father's daughter
For every mother's son

One man's famine is another man's feast, one man's pet is another man's beast
One man's bat is another man's ball, one man's art is another man's scrawl
One man's friend is another man's foe, one man's Joesph is another man's Joe
One man's hammer is another man's nail, one man's freedom is another man's jail

One man's road is another man's rut, one man's if is another man's but
One man's treasure is another man's trash, one man's landin' is another man's crash
One man's word is another man's lie, one man's dirt is another man's sky
One man's skin is another man's color, one man's killer is another man's brother

Sometimes I can't help the feeling that I'm
Living a life of illusion
And oh, why can't we let it be
And see through the hole in this wall of confusion
I just can't help the feeling I'm
Living a life of illusion

Pow! Right between the eyes
Oh, how nature loves her little surprises
Wow! It all seems so logical now
It's just one of her better disguises
And it comes with no warning
Nature loves her little surprises
Continual crisis..........

Joe Walsh - Life Of illusion

Hey, don't you know it's a waste of your day
Caught up in endless solutions
That have no meaning, just another hunch
Based upon jumping conclusions
Caught up in endless solutions
Backed up against a wall of confusion
Living a life of illusion
